You Decide !

It was almost a month we friends didnt meet and i can’t imagine how hard we had to plan and meet for barely sometime... It was so good to meet and talk and share all the months stress, fun and experience. We were at my place, my mum made pakoda's and it was barely 8 p.m. and suddenly my friend's phone rings and she's told that she has to be home, it was late... And as usual, she rushed.
I wonder, why do folks have to be so conservative and protective and so restrictive towards their own children? Maybe i'm wrong, not thinking from a parent's perspective but... Come on, we're adults! Dont we have that much of thinking capability!? I am unique! With totally different way of thinking from the other, am i not supposed to have my own liberty?

Sometimes parents here forget that we're gonna fly away someday, to our own destination with a lot of hopes and a will to do something unique!
Many go for engineering/medical/MBA/IAS because their 'parents' want them to. And the reason behind it is that they want to see their son/daughter prosper! What they don’t understand is they’re going to force their children to become/learn what they always wanted to! Or, they won’t their children do what they want just because they weren’t allowed to!

Now the question here is, if you dont love what you're supposed to do will it give the desired result? If you love dancing, why the hell are you supposed to even try becoming a CA? But no, he's been scoring 90% so far!
WHY DO YOU CHOOSE WHATS RIGHT FOR HIM??? And we say India is a democratic country, I'd rather call it dictatorship.

Girls wear a scarf if going out, dont hang out with boys in a co-ed. school, be back before dark, no sports wear in college; Boys dont wear a round neck/printed T-shirt, no jeans, be back before 8. And we say we live in 21st century;A middle class father wont allow his son to do business because its unstable; no career in cricket even if he loves to and is good at it.

Let them make their decisions and get messed up big time with it, that doesnt make him bad at it;it makes him rich, in experience, practical knowlwdge, aware the real time working methods of the world.

The basic problem according to me begins because of communication gap, between parents and kids. From the beginning if parents are clear and open enough there would be no problem at all! Normally this as I have observed probably is because of 3 reasons:
Parents think that their kid is good at studying and should focus on that. But due to this he/she is protected by parents way too much. So much so that parents sometimes on regular basis pick up and drop at the college! But sometimes it happens that they forget to notice that they have a grown up son/daughter and keep protecting him/her and care too much thinking they’re still a kid. That’s one case that we get to see here very often.
Another is when parents have no time for their kids, their office, parties and VVIP meetings and they hardly notice their kids growing up!
And the worse is parents take kids for granted that mine is a total waste brat. There’s no use of me trying to make any communication with him.

That’s when they start feeling differences in each other’s opinions and slowly start having clashes and it goes way out of hand in handling the situations. And at the end of it, they suddenly notice, oh you’re gonna vote this year?!... The years passed so fast! Or, no he does always want to be so aggressive and against me. How the hell am I supposed to handle this? Well, let me tell you… There is never a drastic change occurring naturally in nature, it’s a lot of accumulation since a lot of years!
Let your teen son/daughter enjoy, have fun because it’s the only age they can and probably will! Let them hang out with friends of opposite sex, may be that'll save your effort to search for the perfect partner for your son/daughter. And that they’ll be happy, just as you want them to be! Let him/her talk to you as a friend and be a mentor to them, try thinking from their perspective because no one is wrong from their point of view.

I don’t know if you saw the Twilight series and if you did, do you remember the graduation speech. Here is what a teenager has to say in the speech..

"When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers were things like astronaut, president, or in my case… princess.
When we were ten, they asked again and we answered - rock star, cowboy, or in my case, gold medalist. But now that we've grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how 'bout this: who the hell knows?!
This isn't the time to make hard and fast decisions, its time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love - a lot. Major in philosophy 'cause there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent.
So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask again what we want to be… we won't have to guess. We'll know."

Just let the creativity flow, let it blossom and when it does, help it grow! Because when that happens, there will be adequate folks for each job to be done, and with everyone with a job that they love to do... And so the job will be perfect as ever...!

So, let your imagination run free and do what you want... Because you live only once! So if your parents are too protective and their love has turned into possessiveness what i think is “Thodasa jhuth bol boss! Aur enjoy kar apni life"

*T & C apply ;) :)
Be open, be straight and do not misuse your parents trust and affection for you.

This is Mukul signing off...
